Comparison of transcriptional profiles of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from AIDS patients and healthy control group

(Submitter supplied) With the purpose of identifying the cascaded miRNA-mRNA regulatory relationships related to infection of HIV in gene level, we extracted mRNA from Peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 50 AIDS patients and 7 uninfected health controls. All AIDS patients in sample were received Antiretroviral Therapy. To further analysis the gene expression pattern in different virus load, we classified high virus loads (HVL, n=14) and low virus loads (LVL, n=16). more...

microRNA expression profilings in ectopic and eutopic endometria of ovarian endometriosis.

(Submitter supplied) The etiology and pathophysiology of endometriosis remain unclear. Accumulating evidence suggests that aberrant microRNA (miRNA) expression may be involved in the pathogenesis and development of endometriosis. This study therefore aims to survey key miRNAs and further understand the mechanism of endometriosis. Paired expression profiling of miRNA in ectopic endometria compared with eutopic endometria were determined by high-throughput sequencing techniques in eight patients with ovarian endometriosis. more...

Identifying microRNA-mRNA regulatory networks in colorectal cancer by a combination of expression profile and bioinformatics analysis

(Submitter supplied) A multi-step approach combining microarray profile and bioinformatics analysis was adopted to identify the CRC specific miRNA-mRNA regulatory network. First, differentially expressed miRNAs and mRNAs were found out in CRC samples compared with normal epithelial tissues by miRNA and mRNA microarray respectively. Secondly the target mRNAs of dysregualted miRNA were identified by a combination of Pearson correlation coefficient between the expression level of miRNAs and mRNAs and online miRNA target predicting databases. more...

Integrated ordination of miRNA and mRNA expression profiles [miRNA]

(Submitter supplied) Several studies have shown that negative and positive miRNA-mRNA correlations are symmetrically distributed. While negative correlations are consistent with a faster degradation of miRNA targets, the presence of positive correlations suggests bidirectional interactions between the two classes of molecules. However, a comprehensive study of miRNA and mRNA correlations is lacking. A homogeneous map of miRNA and mRNA relationships was obtained by multidimensional scaling (MDS) applied to a single matrix including both heterologous (miRNA-mRNA) and homologous (miRNA-miRNA and mRNA-mRNA) correlations.

Dynamic miRNA-mRNA regulations are essential for maintaining Drosophila immune homeostasis during Micrococcus luteus infection

(Submitter supplied) Pathogen bacteria infections can lead to dynamic changes of microRNA (miRNA) and mRNA expression profiles, which may control synergistically the outcome of immune responses. To reveal the role of dynamic miRNA-mRNA regulation in Drosophila innate immune responses, we have detailedly analyzed the paired miRNA and mRNA expression profiles at three time points during Drosophila adult males with Micrococcus luteus (M. more...

Comparative Expression Profile of miRNA and mRNA in Primary Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells Infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV-1) [mRNA]

(Submitter supplied) Host cells respond to exogenous infectious agents such as viruses, including HIV-1. Studies have evaluated the changes associated with virus infection at the transcriptional and translational levels of the cellular genes involved in specific pathways. While this approach is useful, in our view it provides only a partial view of genome-wide changes. Recently, technological advances in the expression profiling at the microRNA (miRNA) and mRNA levels have made it possible to evaluate the changes in the components of multiple pathways. more...
