Two miRNA signatures for identifying nasopharyngeal carcinoma from head-neck tumors and the normal

(Submitter supplied) Reports show that miRNAs have been implicated in various cancers and functions as both oncogenes and tumor suppressors in tumour initiation, progression, and response to treatment. Our study is conducted to identify circulating miRNA profile in NPC patients using whole blood samples with clinical significant diagnostic value. Microarray profiling identified 117 differentially expressed miRNAs (fold change≥1.5) between NPC patients and healthy control and 164 differentially expressed miRNAs (fold change≥1.5) between NPC and HNT patients and healthy control. more...

Microarray analysis of microRNAs in NPC FFPE tissue samples

(Submitter supplied) Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a challenging cancer that is rare in the United States but shows exceptionally high incidence in Southern China, Indonesia, and Malaysia. While the hallmark of NPC is striking geographic variation, early detection and clinical management are also critical characteristics of this cancer. The etiology of NPC is complex, involving the interplay of multiple factors, including Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), which appears to play an oncogenic role. more...

Serum miRNA expression profile of nasopharyngeal carcinoma with different radiosensitivity

(Submitter supplied) Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a squamous cell carcinoma arising from the nasopharynx epithelium. So far, there have been no effective biomarkers to predict the radiosensitivity of NPC. Based on miRNA profile screened out from NPC patients with different radiosensitivity, this study was conducted to explore the correlation between serum miRNAs and radiotherapy response in NPC, and to identify biomarkers for predicting the radiosensitivity of NPC.

miR-18a regulates the miRNAs by target Dicer in Nasopharyngeal carcinoma HK-1 cell.

(Submitter supplied) As the biogenesis of miRNAs depends on the cleavage by the RNase III enzyme Dicer, miR-18a may change the miRNA expression profiles by targeting dicer. We then performed the miRNA array assay to investigate the miRNA profiles change caused by miR-18a.

Identification of microRNA biomarkers in the blood of breast cancer patients based on microRNA profiling

(Submitter supplied) Accumulating evidence indicates that human circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) could serve as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in various cancers. We aimed to explore novel miRNA biomarkers in the blood of breast cancer patients based on miRNA profiling. A miRCURY™ LNA Array was used to identify differentially altered miRNAs in the whole blood of breast cancer patients (n = 6) and healthy controls (n = 6). more...

Comprehensive microRNA profiling of Nasopharyngeal Carinoma Specimens

(Submitter supplied) Publication: Identification of a microRNA signature associated with risk of distant metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma Purpose Despite significant improvement in locoregional control in the contemporary era of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) treatment, patients still suffer from a significant risk of distant metastasis (DM). Identifying those patients at risk of DM would aid in personalized treatment in the future. more...

MiRNA Expression data from human radioresistant and radiosensitive Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cells

(Submitter supplied) Most of the NPC patients suffer from local recurrences and distant metastases within 1.5 years after radiotherapy due to radioresistance. Distinct patterns of miRNa expression and signatures were found in NPC, and have been used to associate them with cell proliferation, apoptosis, invasion and metastasis, but few miRNA expression profiling studies have been focused on the tumor radioresistance. We used miRNA expression microarray analyses to identify the difference of miRNA in radioresistant NPC CNE2-IR cells and radiosensitive CNE2 cells.

microRNA expression profiling of human nasopharyngeal Carcinoma tissues and Chronic Nasopharyngitis specimens

(Submitter supplied) Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has been etiologically linked to human malignancies including Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC). Although EBV-encoded miRNAs have been shown to contribute to viral latency, host cell survival and immune evasion, their direct impact on cancer progression in their human host remains unclear. In the current study, based on a miRNA expression profiling analysis of a larger number of clinical specimens using a miRNA array platform containing human, EBV and other species miRNA probes., we found that some EBV-miR-BARTs were highly expressed in NPC. more...

Identification of the serum microRNAs (miRNAs) displaying differential levels between hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients and chronic hepatitis B (CHB) controls

(Submitter supplied) To identify serum miRNAs for the diagnosis of HCC, the profiling of 754 human miRNAs was analyzed in sera from six histopathologically confirmed HCC patients and eight CHB controls, using TaqMan Array Human MicroRNA A+B Cards Set v3.0 (Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA). Serum miRNAs with differential levels between HCC and CHB were identified by comparing serum miRNA profiling of HCC patients with that of CHB controls.
