Treatment protocol 129S6 Akita podocyte-JAK2 transgenic mice were implanted with osmotic minipumps that infused angiontensin II subcutaneously at a rate of 700 ng/min/kg for 4 wks. During the final 2 wks of this infusion the experimental mice received a JAK1/2 inhibitor at 3 mg/kg/day in acidified water, while the control mice received vehicle alone. The JAK1/2 inhibitor reduced mesangial expansion and albuminuria in the diabetic hypertensive mice without affecting glycemia or blood pressure.
