| Hybridization protocol |
The cRNA hybridization cocktail was incubated overnight at 45°C while rotating in a hybridization oven. After 16 hours of hybridization, the cocktail was removed and the arrays were washed and stained in an Affymetrix GeneChip fluidics station 450, according to the Affymetrix-recommended protocol

| Data processing |
Microarray data was processed using default RMA normalization (Partek v6.6, Partek Inc. St. Louis, Missouri). Differences across genotypes were compared using analysis of variance and unpaired t-test to look for differences between specific genotypes. For detecting differentially expressed genes or microRNAs, the multiple-test correction of p-value was performed by using the positive false discovery rate (FDR) and genes were filtered by a given q-value threshold
