miRNA expression profiling of thymus samples from myasthenia gravis patients

(Submitter supplied) Autoimmune myasthenia gravis (MG) is characterized by thymic abnormalities such as hyperplasia and thymoma. Thymus plays an important role in self-tolerance and is involved in initiation and progression of the disease. A large proportion of MG patient show the presence of ectopic germinal centers (GC) in thymus that are absent in normal individuals. However, the exact mechanism how this change in thymus morphology is triggered and if this is related to pathophysiology of the disease remains unknown. more...

Dynamic miRNA-mRNA regulations are essential for maintaining Drosophila immune homeostasis during Micrococcus luteus infection

(Submitter supplied) Pathogen bacteria infections can lead to dynamic changes of microRNA (miRNA) and mRNA expression profiles, which may control synergistically the outcome of immune responses. To reveal the role of dynamic miRNA-mRNA regulation in Drosophila innate immune responses, we have detailedly analyzed the paired miRNA and mRNA expression profiles at three time points during Drosophila adult males with Micrococcus luteus (M. more...

Ectopic microRNA-150 transcription mimics GR therapy response in GC sensitive MM1S multiple myeloma cells but fails to overcome GC resistance in MM1R cells

(Submitter supplied) Glucocorticoids (GCs) are commonly used to treat patients suffering from lymphoid malignancies i.e. leukemia and multiple myeloma. Although GCs are known to be strong inducers of apoptosis in lymphoid cells, the molecular determinants of GC therapy resistance are poorly understood. Although GC treatment triggers important changes in gene expression, few studies have addressed the regulatory role of small regulatory microRNAs (miRNAs) in GC therapy response. more...

Expression data of different types of OSAHS patients

(Submitter supplied) OSAHS is a complex, synthetical disease that can lead to multiple system and multiple organ damage as the disease progresses.Metabolic syndrome is the most common complication, but the symptoms at different stages of the disease are different. It is known that miRNAs can be stably in the serum and changes during the development of the disease. Therefore, we speculate that serum miRNAs could biomarkers for OSAHS diagnosis and progression judgment. more...

MicroRNA expression profiling in GC-2 cells following 50 Hz ELF-EMF

(Submitter supplied) Aberrant miRNA expression has been related to the development of human germ cell tumors, but little is known about effect of ELF-EMFs on miRNA expression. ELF-EMFs may epigenetically modify cells, which may account for the adverse effects of ELF-EMFs on the male reproductive system. To identify miRNAs that were differentially expressed between the sham and ELF-EMF exposure groups, we performed an Affymetrix microarray analysis to establish the miRNA expression profiles.

An integrative analysis of renal miRNA- and mRNA-expression signatures in progressive chronic kidney disease [validation cohort]

(Submitter supplied) MicroRNAs (miRNAs) contribute to chronic kidney disease progression via negatively regulating mRNA abundance. However, their association with clinical outcome remains poorly understood. We performed large-scale miRNA and mRNA expression profiling on cryo-cut renal biopsy sections from a discovery (n=43) and a validation (n=29) cohort. In the discovery cohort (GEO Series accession number GSE45980), miRNAs differentiating stable and progressive cases were determined, and putative target mRNAs showing inversely correlated expression profiles were identified. more...

Identification of differentially expressed small RNAs and prediction of target genes in Italian Large White pigs with divergent backfat deposition

(Submitter supplied) The identification of the molecular mechanisms regulating pathways associated to the potential of fat deposition in pigs can lead to the detection of key genes and markers for the genetic improvement of fat traits. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) interactions with target RNAs regulate gene expression and modulate pathway activation in cells and tissues. In pigs, miRNA discovery is well far from saturation and the knowledge of miRNA expression in backfat tissue and particularly of the impact of miRNA variations are still fragmentary. more...
