Rectal cancer cells and radiotherapy response

Analysis of rectal cancer cells from patients prior to preoperative radiotherapy. Response to radiotherapy determined by histopathologic examination of resected specimens. Results identify gene markers for the characterization and prediction of the response to radiotherapy in rectal cancer.

Rectal Cancer Cells and Radiation-sensitivity

(Submitter supplied) Biopsy specimens were collected from rectal cancer before starting preoperative radiotherapy. The expression profiles were determined using Affymetrix Human Genome U95 version 2 arrays.Comparison between the sample groups allow to identify a set of discriminating genes that can be used for characterization of responders and nonresponders to preoperative radiotherapy in rectal cancer. Gene expression signature and the prediction of lymph node metastases

(Submitter supplied) Samples were taken from colorectal cancers in surgically resected specimens in 89 colorectal cancer patients. The expression profiles were determined using Affymetrix Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 arrays. Comparison between the sample groups allow to identify a set of discriminating genes that can be used for molecular markers for predicting lymph node metastases. Keywords: disease state analysis

Gene expression profiling study by RNA-seq to identify gene signature resposed to chemo-radiotherapy in colorectal cancers.

(Submitter supplied) The objective of this study is to assess gene expression changes and identify gene sets associated with chemo-radiotherapy (CRT) in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. We performed RNA-seq based transcriptome profiling using primary tumor samples obtained from 22 CRC patients. By a number of statistical tests, a total of 575 genes were statistically significant, indicating a gene set profoundly responded to chemo-radiotherapy in CRC. more...

New specific molecular targets for radiochemotherapy in colorectal cancer

(Submitter supplied) A promising treatment for patients with advanced colorectal cancer is preoperative radiochemotherapy. The early side effects of this treatment have been considered to be acceptable. The aim of this study was to identify the effects of preoperative radiochemotherapy (PRT) on gene expression in tumour and normal colon rectal tissue form the same patients, before and after PRT. For that purpose, tissue samples from ten patients with operable rectal adenocarcinomas were collected for use in whole genome–microarray based gene expression analysis. more...
