ABA and DMTU were added to the medium containing the suspension cells to the final required concentrations of 50 µM and 5mM, respectively. Treatments were continued for 20 h before RNA extraction

Growth protocol |
Arabidopsis thaliana (Columbia ecotype) T87 suspension cells were obtained from RIKEN BioResource Center (Tsukuba, Japan) and were cultured at 20 °C under 16 h light, 8h dark illumination (24 μE s−1 m−2) with shaking at 120 rpm. Cells were subcultured every 7 days by adding 10 ml of the cell suspension to a 500 ml flask containing 90 ml of Gamborg B5 medium with 3% sucrose and 0.5 µM 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA). Experiments were carried out in the exponential phase of growth at about 120 h of cell cultivation.

Arabidopsis ATH1 oligonucleotide-based genome arrays were used, and hybridization and washing were performed by using the standard Affymetrix protocol for RNA analyses (www.affymetrix.com/products/arrays/specific/arab.affx).
