Sequenced reads were trimmed for adaptor sequences using cutadapt v2.1 with a command based on the kit manufacturers’ recommendations (cutadapt -m 15 -u 3 --max-n 0.9 -a AAAAAAAAAA) miRNA counts were obtained using MiRDeep2 and miRNAs obtained from miRBase v22.1 Raw count count data was processed and analysed for differential expression using DESeq2 Assembly: GRCh38 Supplementary files format and content: Tab-delimited text file.
