Skeletal muscle samples were homogenized in a Bead Ruptor Elite bead mill homogenizer cooled by liquid nitrogen to 10°C for 2 x 20 seconds at 4.2 m/s. Muscle homogenates were processed using the Agencourt RNAdvance Tissue Kit on a BioMek FXP Laboratory Automation Workstation cDNA libraries were constructed from 250 ng of total RNA using the Universal Plus mRNA-Seq kit from NuGEN
