miRNA profiling data was analyzed using the ExpressionSuite Software (Life Technologies) according to the comparative threshold cycle (CT) method. Low expressed miRNAs (CT > 27) were set at 27. The expression of each sample was normalized by the mean expression of the four reference sncRNAs (miR-17, miR-191, RNU48, U6-snRNA). The miRNA expression normalized to the reference sncRNAs was calculated using 2^-deltaCt, where deltaCt = (Ct_miRNA − meanCt_sncRNAs) Relative expression was depicted as FC compared to one randomly selected healthy control (HC_03), which was set at 1. The web-based software package automatically performs all deltadeltaCt based fold-change calculations from the uploaded raw threshold cycle data. Non-normalized data reports raw CT value. Fold Change data reports the relative expression of each sample compared to a randomly selected healthy control sample (HC_03) for the 143 expressed miRNAs.
