Labeling, hybridization, scanning and data processing were performed at the UC Irvine DNA and Protein Microarray Facility. Biotinylated cRNA was prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol from 9 µg total RNA (GeneChipR Expression Analysis Technical Manual, 2001, Affymetrix, Inc., Santa Clara, CA).

Hybridization protocol |
Following fragmentation, 10 micrograms of fragmented target cRNA was hybridized for 16 hr at 45° C on GeneChipR Mouse Expression Array 430B. Genechips were washed and then stained (SAPE, streptavidin-phycoerythrin) on an Affymetrix Fluidics Station 400.

GeneChips were scanned using the Hewlett-Packard Gen/Array Scanner G2500A.
