Organism Zea mays
Characteristics Zea mays, Kernel, Development
Growth protocol Natural conditions, growing season begins from May to September, on the China Agricultural University research farm in Beijing, China.
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol Total RNA was extracted using a modified hot phenol method.
Label Cy3
Label protocol Cy3-cDNA were prepared according to the recommendations of the Maize Oligo Array Project (http://www.maizearray.org/).

Hybridization protocol Hybridization and post hybridization wash were performed according to the protocal of the Maize Oligo Array Project (http://www.maizearray.org/).
Scan protocol Hybridized slides were scanned by a Genepix 4000B (Axon, USA).
Description Gene expression data from maize kernel
Data processing Raw data from microarray hybridization, exported from GenePix suites 6.0 (Axon, USA), was imported into LIMMA with annotation and spot types. Spots with a negative flag value were assigned a weight of 0.1 in the subsequent analysis. Background-subtracted signal intensities were normalized using a two-step normalization: print-tip group loss (within-array normalization) and then between-array scale normalization.
