Two-week-old seedlings
Treatment protocol Seedlings grown hydroponically were treated wtih chitooctaose at a final concentration of 1 um for 30 minutes. The collected seedlings were frozen in liquid nitrogen for RNA isolation uisng the Trizol solution (Invitrogen).
Growth protocol Seedlings were grown in the MS liquid medium for 14 days under constant light at 23 degree and then treated with chitooctaose
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol Trizol extraction of total RNA was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Label biotin
Label protocol Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol from 8 ug total RNA (Expression Analysis Technical Manual, Affymetrix).
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, cRNA were hybridized with the Affymetrix Arabidopsis Whole Genome Array ATH1 according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Scan protocol Arrays were scanned using a Hewlett-Packard GeneArray Scanner

Data processing The data were analyzed with DNA-CHIP (dChip) (Version, September 23, 2005) using the default settings.
