Title |
Neonatal intermittent hypoxia exposure sex-specifically augments rat microglial cytokine expression acutely and long-term |
Organism |
Rattus norvegicus |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
We analyzed gene expression via RNA-sequencing in microglia isolated from postnatal day 9 rats exposed to normoxia or intermittent hypoxia, in the presence or absence of lipopolysaccharide

Overall design |
P1 sprague dawley rat neonates (three biological replicates per sex and condition) were exposed to one of the following conditions: 1) 8 days of normoxia (21 % O2 followed by 3 hours saline injection (i.p.) 2) 8 days of normoxia followed by 3 hours lipopolysaccharide (LPS) injection (0.1 mg/kg i.p.) 3) 8 days of intermittent hypoxia (2 min cycles between 10.5% O2 and 21% O2 8 hrs/day) followed by vehicle injection and 3) 8 days of intermittent hypoxia followed by 3 hrs LPS injection). Microglia were immunomagnetically isolated following the vehicle or LPS injection and total RNA isolated for sequencing.
