Mammalian Methylation Consortium

(Submitter supplied) The Mammalian Methylation Consortium aimed to characterize the relationship between cytosine methylation levels and a) species characteristics such as maximum lifespan and b) individual sample characteristics such as age, sex, tissue type. Both supervised machine learning approaches and unsupervised machine learning approaches were applied to the data as described in the citations. To facilitate comparative analyses across species, the mammalian methylation consortium applied a single measurement platform (the mammalian methylation array, GPL28271) to n=15216 DNA samples derived from 70 tissue types of 348 different mammalian species (331 eutherian-, 15 marsupial-, and 2 monotreme species). more...

A Nile Rat Transcriptomic Landscape Across 22 Organs By Ultra-deep Sequencing and Comparative RNA-seq pipeline (CRSP)

(Submitter supplied) We generated the first ultra-deep Nile grass rat RNA-seq data from 60 biopsy samples representing 22 major organs, providing a unique resource and spatial transcriptomic reference (e.g., tissue gene expression baseline) for using Nile grass rat as a model to study human diseases.

Next Generation Sequencing and Quantitative Analysis of Mus musculus and Arvicanthis niloticus Olfactory Epithelium Transcriptomes

(Submitter supplied) To quantify gene expression differences in olfactory epithelium between the mouse (Mus musculus) and the Nile rat (Arvicanthis niloticus), paired-end RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) was used to profile olfactory epithelium transcriptomes of six Nile rats and six mice (C57BL/6J) (one male and one female at the age of 8, 12, and 16 weeks for each species).

Microarray analysis on livers of young Nile rats fed palm fruit juice

(Submitter supplied) Microarray analysis on livers of young (three weeks old) Nile rats (Arvicanthis niloticus) fed with either a high carbohydrate diet only (percentage energy from carbohydrate:fat:protein = 70:10:20, 16.7 kJ/g) or a high carbohydrate diet supplemented with palm fruit juice (PFJ) (415 ml of 13000 ppm gallic acid equivalent (GAE) for a final concentration of 5.4 g GAE per kg diet or 2.7 g per 2000 kcal) PFJ (415 ml of 13000 ppm gallic acid equivalent (GAE) for a final concentration of 5.4 g GAE per kg diet or 2.7 g per 2000 kcal) was supplemented to young Nile rats (Arvicanthis niloticus) given a high carbohydrate diet (percentage energy from carbohydrate:fat:protein = 70:10:20, 16.7 kJ/g) to observe for possible anti-diabetic effects. more...
