Transcriptome profiling identified a 3-lncRNA regulatory network in transthyretin against glucose induced hRECs dysfunction

(Submitter supplied) Transcriptome of human retinal endothelial cells (hRECs) treated with low glucose (LG), high glucose (HG) or high glucose with 4 uM TTR (HG+TTR) were conducted. Differentially expressed lncRNAs, mRNAs and TTR related lncRNAs and mRNA were acquired for further analysis. Functional annotation and enrichment including KEGG pathway, GO and GSEA were applied to analyze TTR regulated pathway and process. WGCNA analysis was implemented to obtain hub modules and genes. Transcriptome Analysis of the Lates calcarifer Immune Response Towards Cryptocaryon irritans Infection

(Submitter supplied) Cryptocaryon irritans is the causative agent of white spot disease that infects virtually all marine teleost including Lates calcarifer. We undertook to gain an informative snapshot of the host’s transcriptomic response during the course of infection. Liver and spleen cDNA libraries-based L. calcarifer cDNA microarray were used as a tool to oversee the infection response. Parasites infection was carried out on juvenile fish for four days, and total RNA was extracted from the daily harvested infected liver. more...

Integrated analysis of lncRNA and mRNA repertoires in Marek's disease infected spleens identifies genes relevant to resistance

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: Marek's disease virus (MDV) is an oncogenic herpesvirus that can induce T-cell lymphoma. Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) strongly associated with various cancers and many other diseases. In chickens, lncRNAs have not been comprehensively identified. Here, we profiled mRNA and lncRNA repertoires in three groups of spleens from MDV-infected and non-infected chickens, including seven tumorous spleens (TS) from MDV-infected chickens, five spleens from the survivors (SS) without any lesion after MDV infection, and five noninfected spleens (NS) from chickens, to explore the underlying mechanism of host resistance to Marek's disease (MD). more...

Genome-wide analysis of long noncoding RNA expression profile in patients with Marjolin’s ulcer

(Submitter supplied) Marjolin’s Ulcer is an aggressive cutaneous malignancy that typically ensues over a period of time in the post-burned lesions and scars or any other chronic wound. Marjolin’s Ulcer makes up 1.2% of all skin cancers, it is reported that 2% of squamous cell carcinoma and 0.03% of basal cell carcinoma originate in burn scars. Recent studies have shown that long non-coding (lncRNA) plays critical roles in a myriad of biological processes and human diseases,Since the roles of lncRNA in Marjolin’s Ulcer remain unknown, they were investigated in the study. Our findings indicate that the expression profiles of lncRNAs has changed in Marjolin’s Ulcer as compared with normal skin and para-cancerous scar, and may provide novel insight into the molecular mechanism underlying the disease and potential novel diagnostic or therapeutic targets for Marjolin’s Ulcer.

Expression profile of peripheral immune cells-derived coding and long non-coding RNAs in patients with proliferative vitreoretinopathy

(Submitter supplied) Peripheral immune response has been revealed to play a critical role in proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR). However, the reliable immune-related factors that are acting as prognostic indicators or therapeutic targets for PVR remain to explore further. Methods: In the current study, we applied whole-transcriptome sequencing to profile peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from PVR patients and also analyzed lncRNA-mRNA interactions in peripheral immune cells to explore the pathways that might mediate immunopathology and resultant retinal damage in PVR. more...

Transcriptome analysis of psoriasis in a large case-control sample: RNA-seq provides insights into disease mechanisms

(Submitter supplied) To increase our understanding of psoriasis, we utilized RNA-seq to assay the transcriptomes of lesional psoriatic and normal skin. We sequenced polyadenylated RNA-derived cDNAs from 92 psoriatic and 82 normal punch biopsies, generating an average of ~38 million single-end 80-bp reads per sample. Comparison of 42 samples* examined by both RNA-seq and microarray [GSE13355] revealed marked differences in sensitivity, with transcripts identified only by RNA-seq having much lower expression than those also identified by microarray. more...

Long non-coding RNA and mRNA expression profiles in rats with LPS-induced myocardial dysfunction

(Submitter supplied) Sepsis is a life-threatening disease that often causes multiple organ dysfunctions. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in the pathogenesis and development of sepsis. However, there is little known about the function of lncRNAs in sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction. To test the hypothesis that dysregulating lncRNAs may be involved in sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction, we identified differentially expressed (DE) lncRNAs and mRNAs in cardiac tissue by high-throughput sequencing. more...
