mRNA-profiles of Arabidopsis thaliana Col-0 (wild type) and the mutant ctl1-2 roots 14d after germination

(Submitter supplied) Background: Cell walls (CWs) are protein-rich polysaccharide matrices essential for plant growth and environmental acclimationadaptation. The CW constitutes the first physical barrier as well as a primary source of sugars for plant microbes, such as the  vascular pathogen Fusarium oxysporum (Fo). Fo colonizes roots, advancing through the plant primary CWs towards the vasculature, where it grows causing devastation in many crops. more...

Comparative transcriptional profiling of Arabidopsis arr6-3 mutant and wild-type (Col-0) plants mock-treated and after infection with Plectosphaerella cucumerina BMM

(Submitter supplied) Cytokinin signaling pathway, that is mediated by Arabidopsis Response Regulators (ARRs) proteins, has gained functional relevance in the modulation of plant disease resistance responses. We describe here a novel function of ARR6 in the regulation of Arabidopsis immunity and cell wall composition. arr6 mutants were found to be more susceptible and resistant, respectively, to the vascular bacteria Ralstonia solanacearum GMI1000 and the necrotrophic fungus Plectosphaerella cucumerina BMM. more...

Transcriptome changes specifically associated with apple (Malus domestica) root defense response during Fusarium proliferatum MR5 infection

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the specific transcriptomic changes in apple root tissue in response to infection by F. Proliferatum. The characterized transcriptome changes during apple root defense responses to F. Proliferatum inoculation should facilitate the identification of the key molecular components, which may differentiate the resistance and susceptibility among apple rootstock germplasm.

Expression data from elicitor-treated Arabidopsis seedling roots [3h]

(Submitter supplied) Plants can perceive the presence of pathogens at the cell surface and plant damage-derived molecules via recognition of conserved microbial molecules, named pathogen- or microbe-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and damage associated molecular patterns (DAMPs). Well-studied examples of PAMPs are chito-oligomers, breakdown products of fungal cell walls and insect exoskeletons. Pectin-derived oligogalacturonides (OGs) are well-characterized DAMPs. more...

Necrosis- and ethylene-inducing peptide effect on dicots

Analysis of dicot seedlings exposed for 30 minutes to necrosis- and ethylene-inducing peptide (Nep1) from fungal plant pathogen Fusarium oxysporum. Nep1 inhibited root and cotyledon growth and triggered cell death. Results provide insight into signaling networks involved in plant responses to Nep1.

Identification of genes involved in cell wall integrity signalling in Arabidopsis dark-grown hypocotyls

(Submitter supplied) Inhibition of cellulose synthesis by chemical inhibitors or in a mutant background leads to rapid inhibition of cell elongation. This inhibition appears to be an active process, which involves feedback signalling from the cell wall. We have isolated two loci THE1 and THE2, which are identified by mutations that partially suppress the dark-grown hypocotyl phenotype in a mutant background for cellulose synthase catalytic subunit CESA6/PROCUSTE1. more...

Gene Networks Underlying the Early Regulation of Paraburkholderia Phytofirmans Psjn-induced Systemic Resistance in Arabidopsis

(Submitter supplied) Plant defense responses to biotic stresses are complex biological processes, all governed by sophisticated molecular regulations. Induced systemic resistance (ISR) is one of these defense mechanisms where beneficial bacteria or fungi prime plants to resist pathogen or pest attacks. In ISR the defense arsenal in plants remains dormant and it is only triggered by the infection, allowing a rapid response and a better allocation of plant resources. more...

RNA-seq-based analysis of the pathogen-induced defense transcriptome in Arabidopsis

(Submitter supplied) Pathogen infection triggers transcriptional reprogramming in host plants, however we still know little about the dynamics of the pathogen-induced defense transcriptome. The goal of this study was to investigate the dynamic reprogramming of the defense transcriptome in response to Fusarium oxysporum infection in Arabidopsis using RNA-seq technology and to provide a comprehensive analysis of genes underlying the innate immune response against the fungal pathogen. more...

Transcriptome changes of Arabidopsis during pathogen and insect attack

(Submitter supplied) Plant defenses against pathogens and insects are regulated differentially by cross-communicating signaling pathways in which salicylic acid (SA), jasmonic acid (JA) and ethylene (ET) play key roles. To understand how plants integrate pathogen- and insect-induced signals into specific defense responses, we monitored the dynamics of SA, JA, and ET signaling in Arabidopsis after attack by a set of microbial pathogens and herbivorous insects with different modes of attack. more...
