Discovery of Novel Genes and Pathways through Comparative Transcriptomics Approach to Elucidate Genes Expressed in Durian (Durio zibethinus Murr) D24 Varieties Fruit Pulp Development and Ripening.

(Submitter supplied) In this study, RNA Seq analysis was performed for the comprehensive understanding of the transcriptome of the durian, Durio zibethinus Murr. using Illumina HiSeq Platform. In comparison with the durian reference genome, the studies identified 3,438 novel exons and 1,197 novel loci. The total number of novel transcripts were 280. Ninety-seven novel transcripts did not show any similarity with any sequences available in the Genebank’s nucleotide database. more...

Transcriptome Profiling of Tomato Fruit Development Reveals Transcription Factors Associated with Ascorbic Acid, Carotenoid and Flavonoid Biosynthesis

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) serves as a research model for fruit development; however, while it is an important dietary source of antioxidant nutrients, the transcriptional regulation of genes that determine nutrient levels remains poorly understood. The goals of this study are to investigate dynamic changes of tomato genes during fruit development at transcription level and provides insight into the regulatory mechanism of fruit development and presents candidate transcription factors involved in secondary metabolism. more...

Evaluation of genes involved in watermelon fruit ripening and development

(Submitter supplied) A microarray and quantitative Real-Time PCR-based study was conducted in watermelon [Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. & Nakai var. lanatus] in order to elucidate the flow of events associated with fruit development and ripening in this species. RNA from three different maturation stages of watermelon fruit, as well as leaf, were collected from field grown plants during three consecutive years, and hybridized to high-density, photolithography microarrays. more...

Transcriptome analysis of immature and matured human oocytes from patients of young and advanced maternal age

(Submitter supplied) Study Question: What effects do maternal age and oocyte maturation stage have on the human oocyte transcriptome that may be associated with oocyte developmental potential? Summary Answer: Although polyadenylated transcript abundance changes during human oocyte maturation irrespective of age, young (YNG) and advanced maternal age (AMA) metaphase II (MII) oocytes exhibit divergent transcriptomes. What is known already: Maternal age and maturation stage affect oocyte polyadenylated transcript abundance in human oocytes. more...

Dynamics of the chili pepper transcriptome during fruit development

(Submitter supplied) Background The set of all mRNA molecules present in a cell constitute the transcriptome. The transcriptome varies depending on cell type as well as in response to internal and external stimuli during development. Chili pepper is an economically and culturally important horticultural crop as well as a good model for the study of secondary metabolism during fruit development. Here we present a study of the changes that occur in the transcriptome of chili pepper fruit during development and ripening. more...
