To understand how Psychrobacter arcticus 273-4 survived for > 20,000 years in permafrost, transcriptome analysis was performed during growth at 22°C, 17°C, 0°C, and -6°C using a mixed effects ANOVA model. Microarray transcriptional profiling of Arctic Mesorhizobium strain N33 at low temperature provides insights into cold adaption strategies

(Submitter supplied) Arctic Mesorhizobium strain N33 was isolated from nodules of the Oxytropis arctobia in Canada’s eastern Arctic. This symbiotic bacterium can grow from 0 to 30°C, is one of the best known cold-adapted rhizobia, and can fix nitrogen at ~10°C. Here, the key molecular mechanisms of cold adaptation were investigated by determining changes in transcript profiles when cells were treated under eight different temperature conditions, including both sustained and transient cold treatments compared with cells grown at room temperature.

Complete genome sequence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus CHN25 and transcriptomic analysis of cold shock proteins of VpaCspA and VpaCspD in the adaptation of low temperature growth

Gene expression in E.coli K-12 MC4100 at 37˚C and 23˚C in M9 glycerol exponential phase growth

(Submitter supplied) Because many virulence genes in E. coli and other pathogens are regulated by temperature, we wanted to determine on a genome-wide scale which genes are modulated in adapting to both human host temperature (37˚C) and ambient room temperature (23˚C). Overall, 126 genes were found to be more highly expressed at 37˚C (1) whereas 297 genes were more highly expressed at 23˚C (2). Genes involved in the uptake and utilization of amino acids, carbohydrates, and iron dominated the 37˚C list, supporting a model in which temperature serves as a host cue to increase expression of bacterial genes needed for growth. more...

Changes in Shewanella baltica transcriptome upon cold stress

(Submitter supplied) In this work we analyzed changes in gene espression in Shewanella baltica upon cold stress. In order to imitate natural environment, we cultured bacteria in the Instant Ocean medium in a chemostat. Samples were collected after 90 and 180 minutes of cold stress and analyzed by RNA sequencing.
