Description

This strain is part of a comparative study evaluating E. coli clones isolated from the gut of hospitalized patients with strains causing urinary tract infection in one single center. The Escherichia coli strain SMG003F3 was isolated from a rectal swab from an inpatient without urinary tract infection. This sequence refers to clone F3 from the patient SMG003. The other clones isolated from the rectal swab of the same inpatient are SMG003F2, SMG003F7, and SMG003F10. The strain fulfils the molecular criterium to be classified as ExPEC.
