SRX25586357: Whole Genome Sequencing of Escherichia coli: Isolate ec365
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina NovaSeq 6000) run: 1.6M spots, 824.9M bases, 279.6Mb downloads

Design: In brief, volumes of 1ml, 10ml or 100ml were filtered through 47 mm 0.45 m nitrocellulose membrane and placed on selective media. Brilliance Extended Spectrum -Lactamase-producing organisms (ESBL Agar, Oxoid, UK) was used, with membrane filters being added to the surface of the agar and incubated 18 24 h at 37C. Isolates were selected according to morphology and manufacturers instructions. Pure colonies were inoculated onto 3 ml nutrient agar slopes. Genomic DNA was extracted following the QIAamp DNA Mini kit protocol. Libraries were prepared with the Nextera XT DNA sample preparation kit from Illumina and sequenced using one lane on a NovaSeq 6000, with 250 cycles of paired-end sequencing.

Study: Resistance to antibiotics in aquatic and marine environments in the UAE
show Abstracthide Abstract
The aim of this study was to isolate, grow and characterise Escherichia coli from water samples taken from coastal and inland areas within the United Arab Emirates. A total of 256 E. coli from twelve locations were isolated and tested for antibiotic sensitivity using EUVSEC and EUVSEC 2 plates (Thermo Scientific). A subset of isolates (n = 92) were sequenced to provide insight into their genetic diversity and mechanisms of resistance.
Sample: Escherichia coli isolate ec365
