Study: Whole Genome Shotgun Sequencing Project of Vibrio coralliilyticus strain SWA07
show Abstracthide Abstract
This study describes the whole genome of Vibrio coralliilyticus strain SWA07, isolated from seawater in 2007, at Sesoko beach, Okinawa. This bacterium is known to be pathogenic to corals and hence we used it to isolate specific phages from seawater. Novel phages were isolated from using this bacteria (Ramphul et al. 2017), especially the phage RYC. From the results, we wanted to know if there is any kind of proteins which have been transferred from the host bacteria to the phage RYC through several mechanisms. Consequently, this new study is under designed to explore those mechanisms by first comparing the genomes of phage RYC to Vibrio coralliilyticus strain SWA07 and second by identifying similar codons that are being shared or transferred from bacteria to phages though tRNAs. This study will help to understand how the novel phage RYC functions and to add more knowledge on the phage RYC.
