Study: Differential microbial profile of dental plaque and tumor tissue in esophageal cancer patients
show Abstracthide Abstract
The present study was a small attempt to elucidate the link between microbiome and esophageal cancers via utilizing Next Generation Sequencing. As the previous studies have provided a deep insight into the link between microbiome and esophageal cancer, the present study also focuses on the elucidation of esophageal microbiota association. Here we found a high prevalence of Streptococcus, Salmonella, Prevotella, Campylobacter bacteria in the core microbiome analysis in the esophageal microenvironment. Our study also depicts the invasion of oral microbiota into the esophageal lining where these organisms colonizes and disrupts the healthy microbiota which leads to development and progression of esophageal cancer.
