show Abstracthide AbstractEnhancing the productivity through bacterial metabolism engineering is highly sought after but is impeded by our limited knowledge on the BNC synthesis-related metabolic processes. Here, we discovered a metabolism-dependent BNC synthesis processes, which challenges the traditional perception that genome critically determine the biosynthesis behaviors. We compared the transcriptomic profiles of two model BNC-producing strains, Gluconacetobacter hansenii ATCC 53582 and ATCC 23769, which have highly similar genomes but drastically different BNC yields.
