Study: Genomic analyses of self-transmissible plasmids obtained by exogenous plasmid capturing from environmental samples
show Abstracthide Abstract
Plasmids are mobile genetic elements to transmit various genes among different bacteria. However, it is still unclear which and how plasmid(s) spread these genes in natural environment. The objective of this study is to identify which conjugative plasmids are spread in natural environments. We successfully isolated >700 of self-transmissible plasmids from various natural environmental samples in Japan by exogenous plasmid capturing. Their nucleotide sequences are determined by NGSs.
