Design: Sequencing libraries were prepared using the Nextera XT library prep kit. The Qubit high sensitivity dsDNA assay and the Agilent TapeStation D1000 HS were used. All sample were normalized to 4 nM and pooled together for two independent runs and sequenced on the Illumina MiSeq 300 x 300 cycle v3 sequencing kit.

Study: Analysis of Virulence and Antimicrobial Resistance Gene Carriage in Staphylococcus aureus Infections in Equids

Seventy-two clinical Staphylococcus aureus isolates from equids (horses, donkeys, and a mule) were collected at Texas A&M University Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital between 2007 and 2017. Whole genome sequencing was performed to characterize the isolates according to sequence typing, biofilm formation, antimicrobial resistance, and toxin carriage.
