DnaA N-terminal domain-containing protein

This family of proteins represents the N-terminal domain of DnaA, a protein involved in the initiation of bacterial chromosomal replication. The structure of this domain is known [1]. It is also found in three copies in some proteins such as Swiss:B5V0X4. The exact function of this domain is uncertain but it has been suggested to play a role in oligomerisation. [1]. 17680349. ATP-binding protein

This protein contains an ATP/GTP binding P-loop motif. It is found associated with IS21 family insertion sequences [1]. The function of this protein is unknown, but it may perform a transposase function [2]. [1]. 7698671. Characterization and sequence of a novel insertion sequence,. chromosomal replication initiator protein DnaA

DnaA binds to the dnaA-box as an ATP-bound complex at the origin of replication during the initiation of chromosomal replication. It can also affect transcription of multiple genes including itself. is involved in DNA biosynthesis; initiation of chromosome replication and can also be transcription regulator. The C-terminal of the family hits the pfam bacterial DnaA (bac_dnaA) domain family. For a review, see Kaguni (2006).
