putrescine-ornithine antiporter PotE
putrescine-ornithine antiporter PotE catalyzes both the uptake and excretion of putrescine; uptake is dependent on membrane potential and excretion involves putrescine-ornithine antiporter activity
putrescine-ornithine antiporter
Members of this protein family are putrescine-ornithine antiporter. They work together with an enzyme that decarboxylates ornithine to putrescine. This two-gene system has the net effect of removing a protein from the cytosol, providing transient resistance to acid conditions.
basic amino acid/polyamine antiporter
This family includes several families of antiporters that, rather commonly, are encoded next to decarboxylases that convert one of the antiporter substrates into the other. This arrangement allows a cycle that can remove proteins from the cytoplasm and thereby protect against acidic conditions.
Catalyzes the uptake of putrescine via a proton symport mechanism, as well as the efflux of putrescine by a putrescine/ornithine antiport system
