Trp family transcriptional regulator
This protein binds to tryptophan and represses transcription of the Trp operon. [1]. 3419502. Crystal structure of trp repressor/operator complex at atomic resolution. Otwinowski Z, Schevitz RW, Zhang RG, Lawson CL, Joachimiak A, Marmorstein RQ, Luisi BF, Sigler PB. Nature 1988;335:321-329. (from Pfam)
trp operon repressor
Members of this family are the trp operon repressor TrpR, as the term is used in Escherchia coli and related species. When complexed with L-tryptophan, TrpR binds the operator region of the trp operon and prevents the initiation of transcription.
