phosphoglucosamine mutase

phosphoglucosamine mutase catalyzes the interconversion of the glucosamine-6-phosphate (GlcN-6-P) and glucosamine-1-phosphate (GlcN-1-P) isomers

Date:

phosphoglucosamine mutase

This HMM describes GlmM, phosphoglucosamine mutase, previous called MrsA in E. coli, UreC in Helicobacter pylori, and femR315 or FemD in Staphlococcus aureus. In bacteria, the enzyme converts glucosamine-6-phosphate to glucosamine-1-phosphate as part of the pathway toward UDP-N-acetylglucosamine for peptidoglycan and lipopolysaccharides.
