exo-alpha-sialidase
This family of proteins contains BNR-like repeats suggesting these proteins may act as sialidases. (from Pfam)
Vibrio cholerae sialidase, lectin insertion
Members of this family are predominantly found in Vibrio cholerae sialidase, and adopt a beta sandwich structure consisting of 12-14 strands arranged in two beta-sheets. They bind to lectins with high affinity helping to target the protein to sialic acid-rich environments, thereby enhancing the catalytic efficiency of the enzyme [1]. [1]. 15226294. Sialic acid recognition by Vibrio cholerae neuraminidase. Moustafa I, Connaris H, Taylor M, Zaitsev V, Wilson JC, Kiefel MJ, von Itzstein M, Taylor G;. J Biol Chem. 2004;279:40819-40826. (from Pfam)
sialidase family protein
sialidase (glycoside hydrolase 33) family protein similar to sialidase (also known as neuraminidase) that removes sialic acid residues from glycoconjugates
