CsgE family curli-type amyloid fiber assembly protein
Curli are a class highly aggregated surface fibres that are part of a complex extracellular matrix. They promote biofilm formation in addition to other activities. CsgE is a non-structural protein involved in curli biogenesis [2]. CsgE forms an outer membrane complex with the curli assembly proteins CsgG and CsgF [1]. [1]. 16420357. Secretion of curli fibre subunits is mediated by the outer membrane-localized CsgG protein. Robinson LS, Ashman EM, Hultgren SJ, Chapman MR;. Mol Microbiol. 2006;59:870-881. [2]. 11823641. curli production assembly/transport protein CsgE
chaperone-like protein that participates in the polymerization of curlin (CsgA) subunits into curli; part of the curli secretion and assembly protein complex
curli production assembly/transport protein CsgE is a periplasmic accessory protein that plays a crucial role in curli biogenesiss
