potassium-transporting ATPase subunit C

This family consists of K+-transporting ATPase, c chain, KdpC. KdpC forms strong interactions with the KdpA subunit, serving to assemble and stabilise the Kdp complex [1]. It has been suggested that KdpC could be one of the connecting links between the energy providing subunit KdpB and the K+-transporting subunit KdpA [1]. The K+ transport system actively transports K+ ions via ATP hydrolysis. [1]. 9858692. Assembly of the Kdp complex, the multi-subunit K+-transport ATPase of Escherichia coli. potassium-transporting ATPase subunit C

potassium-transporting ATPase subunit C (KdpC) is part of the high-affinity ATP-driven potassium transport (Kdp) system, which catalyzes the hydrolysis of ATP coupled with the electrogenic transport of potassium into the cytoplasm; acts as a catalytic chaperone that increases the ATP-binding affinity of the ATP-hydrolyzing subunit KdpB

K(+)-transporting ATPase subunit C

This chain has a single predicted transmembrane region near the amino end. It is part of a K+-transport ATPase that contains two other membrane-bound subunits, KdpA and KdpB, and a small subunit KdpF. KdpA is the K+-translocating subunit, KdpB the ATP-hydrolyzing subunit. During assembly of the complex, KdpA and KdpC bind to each other. This interaction is thought to stabilize the complex [MEDLINE:9858692]. Data indicates that KdpC might connect the KdpA, the K+-transporting subunit, to KdpB, the ATP-hydrolyzing (energy providing) subunit [MEDLINE:9858692].
