Members of this family average about 125 amino acids in length. Two Cys, separated by about 65 amino acids, are the only two invariant residues in this family. Mutation of founding protein MCR_0457 in one strain of Moraxella catarrhalis resulted in a severe growth defect during iron starvation, but the mechanism for the defect was not described and the phenomenon was not well conserved among different isolates of the same species. Members of this family are found almost entirely in the genera Acinetobacter, Moraxella, and Psychrobacter.
