Definition

Idiopathic generalized epilepsy-19 (EIG19) is an autosomal dominant seizure disorder characterized by onset of variable types of seizures in the first two decades of life. Generalized tonic-clonic seizures are most common, but others include febrile, atypical absence, atonic, and myoclonic seizures (Fan et al., 2024). For a general phenotypic description and a discussion of genetic heterogeneity of idiopathic generalized epilepsy, see EIG (600669). [from OMIM]
