Treatment protocol Animals were divided into two dietary sets for 30 days. One group was fed with standard chow diet (supplying 8% of calories as fat; type AO4 from Panlab, Barcelona, Spain). The second group was fed with a cafeteria diet (66% of calories as fat), as previously described (Endocrinology 146:4362–4369, 2005).
Growth protocol Adult male Wistar rats (Charles River Laboratories, Wilmington, MA), 7 wk old (weighing 225–250 g), were caged individually in a 12-h light, 12-h dark cycle in a temperature- and humidity-controlled environment.
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol Total RNA was extracted using the RNeasy minikit (QIAGEN, Hilden, Germany).
Label biotin
Label protocol Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the standard Affymetrix protocol.
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, cRNA were hybridized, washed and stained according to the standard Affymetrix protocol.
Scan protocol GeneChips were scanned according to the standard Affymetrix protocol (Affymetrix Genechip Command Console program 3.0.0.1214, scanner GCS 3000-7G)
Description Gene expression data from the mesenteric adipose tissue surrounding the pancreas (pMES) in cafeteria diet fed Wistar rats for 30 days
Data processing Raw data was background adjusted, normalized and summarized by Robust Multi-array Analysis (RMA) using the Affy package from Bioconductor on R language.
