Treatment protocol |
C57BL/6J mice were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) or normal diet (ND) and sacrificed at 5 time-points (2, 4, 8, 20 and 24 weeks) over 24 weeks.

Growth protocol |
All the mice were individually housed under a constant temperature (24°C) and 12-hour light/dark cycle, fed the AIN-76 semi-purified diet or AIN-76 semi-purified diet with 39.2 kcal% fat (American Institute of Nutrition, 1977) consisting of 20% fat and 1% cholesterol.

Extraction protocol |
RNA was extracted with Trizol reagent, followed by clean-up and DNase I treatment with QIAGEN RNeasy mini kit in accordance with the prescribed protocol provided with the kit. Quality control was performed with Agilent Bioanalyser.
