Title |
Studying iPSCs from a hibernating mammal reveals molecular mechanisms of cold resistance in neural tissues |
Organisms |
Homo sapiens; Ictidomys tridecemlineatus |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by high throughput sequencing
|
Summary |
To explore the cold resistant feature of ground squirrel neuron cells, we compared transcriptomes of human and ground squirrel iPSC derived neurons in the response to cold treatment. We identified several key pathways that are critical for the maintenance of neuronal microtubule cytoskeleton integrity at low temperature.

Overall design |
Neuron cultures of human and ground squirrel iPSC derivate incubated at 4 °C or the normal 37 °C for 1 hour or 4 hours, respectively. Totally, we obtained 18 transcriptomes, including 3 replicates of squirrel_4c_1h, 3 of squirrel_37c_1h, 2 of human_37c_1h, 2 of human_4c_1h, 2 of squirrel_37c_4h, 2 of squirrel_4c_4h, 2 of human_37c_4h and 2 of human_4c_4h.
