Title |
Effects of entero-gastro-anastomosis (EGA) surgery in ob/ob mice on pancreatic islet gene expression |
Organism |
Mus musculus |
Experiment type |
Expression profiling by array
|
Summary |
Bariatric surgical techniques are known to cause weight loss and diabetes remission to varying degrees in severly obese patients. However, the mechanisms involved in the restoration of beta-cell function remain to be uncovered. In this study, the leptin-deficient ob/ob mouse was used as a model to investigate the effect of EGA bariactric surgery on pancreatic islet gene expression.

Overall design |
At 3 months of age, C57Bl6-ob/ob mice were randomized to EGA or sham surgery. Pancreatic islets were isolated 28 days after the surgery. C57Bl/6J mouse islets were used as lean/non-obese control.
