Title Effects of entero-gastro-anastomosis (EGA) surgery in ob/ob mice on pancreatic islet gene expression
Organism Mus musculus
Experiment type Expression profiling by array
Summary Bariatric surgical techniques are known to cause weight loss and diabetes remission to varying degrees in severly obese patients. However, the mechanisms involved in the restoration of beta-cell function remain to be uncovered. In this study, the leptin-deficient ob/ob mouse was used as a model to investigate the effect of EGA bariactric surgery on pancreatic islet gene expression.

Overall design At 3 months of age, C57Bl6-ob/ob mice were randomized to EGA or sham surgery. Pancreatic islets were isolated 28 days after the surgery. C57Bl/6J mouse islets were used as lean/non-obese control.
