    Early IGF-1 primes visual cortex maturation and accelerates developmental switch between NKCC1 and KCC2 chloride transporters in enriched animals. Early enrichment and IGF-1 administration produced a decrease in the ratio between NKCC1 and KCC2 cation/chloride transporters, suggesting that enrichment, via IGF-1, may hasten the developmental switch of neuronal GABAergic responses from excitation to inhibition.
