Sequential and tandem ChIP analyses showed that, after forced swim (FS) stress , MRs and GRs bind concomitantly to the same GRE sites within Fkbp5 and Per1 but not Sgk1 Thus, after stress, MRs and GRs seem to bind to GREs as homo- and/or heterodimers in a gene-dependent manner. MR binding to GREs at baseline seems to be restricted, whereas after stress, GR binding may facilitate cobinding of MR

Acute stress enhances heterodimerization and binding of corticosteroid receptors at glucocorticoid target genes in the hippocampus.

Study demonstrates that transcriptional activation of Per1 and Per2 via E-box enhancer sequences is necessary for the temporally specific phase shifts induced by melatonin at circadian time 10. These findings support a link between melatonin-induced signal transduction pathways activating necessary Per1 and Per2 transcription and clock resetting in the suprachiasmatic nucleus by melatonin at dusk.

each layer of the retina in the Per1-Luc rat harbors a self-sustained oscillator whose period is significantly longer ( approximately 26 hours) than in whole-retina explants ( approximately 22.9 hours), indicating that the period is correlated with the degree of coupling
