A total of 1169 cows of 4 pure breeds (Polish Holstein Friesian, Montbeliarde, Jersey and Holstein Friesian) were genotyped. The T (IGF1R/e2/MspI) and G (IGF1R/e2/TaqI) alleles were found to be prevalent. 3 combinations of genotypes (TT/GG, TT/AG and CT/GG) were associated with the highest productivity (milk, protein and fat yields) among the breeds studied, as opposed to individuals carrying the worst CC/AA combination.

Polymorphism in exon 2 encoding the putative ligand binding pocket of the bovine insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor affects milk traits in four different cattle breeds.

study determined IGFR1 and PAPP-A expression both in follicles at different stages of development and in ovarian cysts; data indicate that animals with cystic ovarian disease (COD) have an altered regulation of the IGF system in the ovary and thus allow postulating IGFR1 expression and PAPP-A secretion as a modulator of IGF1 in cattle with COD

Results of the present study showed, for the first time, that the polymorphism in IGF1R is associated with superovulation traits, and indicated that the IGFIR gene can be used as a potential marker for donor selection.

Data describes the long-term changes to skeletal muscle growth and IGF1, 2, 1R, and 2R mRNA expression in progeny after exposure to high and low levels of maternal nutrient intake during the first two trimesters of gestation in the bovine.

Protein intake during gestation affects postnatal bovine skeletal muscle growth and relative expression of IGF1, IGF1R, IGF2 and IGF2R.

Results do not support the premise that increased apoptosis associated with high levels of IGF1 is mediated via downregulation of the IGF1R as previously found in preimplantation mouse embryos.

Increased apoptosis in bovine blastocysts exposed to high levels of IGF1 is not associated with downregulation of the IGF1 receptor.
