By using CRISPR/Cas9 technology, genetic analysis and biochemical assays, it was discovered that SOC3 pairs with different truncated TN proteins, CHS1 or TN2, to monitor either the disappearance or overaccumulation of SAUL1, respectively. The differential pairing results in autoimmunity with distinct morphological outcomes. [TN2]
