What's a GeneRIF?

The responsiveness to Ascaris in mice is likely to be controlled by multiple genes and, despite a unique absence from the susceptible C57BL/6j strain, the Intelectin-2 gene does not play a significant role in resistance.

Itlnb is increased in expression in the mouse intestinal tract in response to infection with Trichinella spiralis. Mice lacking the Itlnb gene cannot expulse T.spiralis as efficiently. This gene is absent in C57BL/10 mice.
