    Summary
    Encodes a homolog of the protein Cas1p known to be involved in polysaccharide O-acetylation in Cryptococcus neoformans. Mutants show reduced cell wall polysaccharide acetylation and increased resistance to Botrytis cinerea. The protein is expressed in the Golgi and is involved in the acetylation of xylan during secondary wall biosynthesis.
