    A structural constituent of muscle. Involved in muscle tissue development and sarcomere organization. Located in Z disc and nucleus. Colocalizes with actin cytoskeleton. Is expressed in several structures, including adult head; adult heart; larval muscle cell; larval muscle system; and muscle attachment site. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in dilated cardiomyopathy; dilated cardiomyopathy 1M; hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy 12.
