Summary: Roxy1 encodes a glutaredoxin belonging to a subgroup specific to higher plants. It is required for proper petal initiation and organogenesis. It is likely to function in the temporal and spatial expression regulation of AGAMOUS in the first and second whorl. It's function is dependent on the Cysteine 49 residue and its nuclear localization. ROXY1 interacts in vitro and in vivo with members of the TGA family of transcription factors (e.g. TGA2, TGA3, TGA7 and PAN).
