Involved in several processes, including axis specification; commissural neuron axon guidance; and embryonic morphogenesis. Located in contractile muscle fiber and phagocytic cup. Is expressed in several structures, including anchor cell; anus; distal tip cell; head neurons; and vulval cell. Used to study Goldenhar syndrome. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including colorectal cancer (multiple); diabetes mellitus (multiple); ductal carcinoma in situ; immunodeficiency 22; and systemic lupus erythematosus. Orthologous to several human genes including FYN (FYN proto-oncogene, Src family tyrosine kinase); SRC (SRC proto-oncogene, non-receptor tyrosine kinase); and YES1 (YES proto-oncogene 1, Src family tyrosine kinase).
