Summary: Located on the SSL2 region of Arabidopsis thaliana, which is homeologous to the Brassica S locus for self incompatibility. Expressed in both vegetative and reproductive organs suggesting AtSP7 might not be involved in self incompatibility. Its expression is regulated during cell cycle progression through E2F transcription factors. The protein interacts with acetylated histones H3 and H4 and HAM acetyltransferases, proteins known to be involved in cell cycle control and DNA repair.
