    Summary
    SMAX1 (SUPPRESSOR OF MAX2 1) is a member of an eight-gene family in Arabidopsis that has weak similarity to AtHSP101, a ClpB chaperonin required for thermotolerance. SMAX1 is an important component of KAR/SL signaling during seed germination and seedling growth, but is not necessary for all MAX2-dependent responses.
